My Most Prized Possession

Most Prized Possession, 2007-2008

Most Prized Possession is an international collaborative project where students examine what is really important in their lives and create a movie about their dearest possession.

Full description of project: After a thoughtful look at materialism and self-examination, students around the world are invited to create a two – four minute movie about their most prized possession. The movie should be created with still images or video and include narration, music and subtitles* in English (if possible - * In iMovie, subtitles can be created by using the Stripe Subtitle title found under editing.) After movies are created, students turn in a submission form to our class and then post their movies to Teacher Tube http://www.teachertube.com/

Timetable for the 2007-2008 school year: accepting submissions from September 2007 to March 2008

Directions given to students:

If you had to evacuate your home due to an impending natural disaster, (your family could escape without harm) and you are allowed to bring one and only one thing . . . what object would you bring? Think about your most prized possession:

• Why is that object so dear to you?

• Is it a family heirloom?

.Does it remind you of a happy time?

• Does it have a monetary value?

• Is it something your family needs to survive?

• Jot down the very first thing that comes to your mind!

Writing Objective: Write a piece that tells about your most prized possession and why it is so important to you.

Project contribution to others and the planet: I believe that in sharing a movie and personal sentiments, young people all over the world will have a better understanding of themselves and others. It is my hope that through this small gesture of sharing that my students will see the world differently . . . that maybe as they grow older and have a voice in the affairs of our world community that they will look outside of themselves, remember the connections they made, and act in the best interest of the world community.

How do I make best friends……

This writing prompt invites you to express your beliefs, ideas and thoughts about yourself about making best friends.

Your final post can be a piece of narrative writing in small one paragraph or a five paragraph essay depending on the grade level you study in and your English language proficiency:

-List some of the things you will do to make best friends.

-Identify all the characteristics or personality traits in you that you will use to make best friends.

We invite other students and classes to read each others postings and respond to it.
